K9 SNAKE AWARENESS AND AVOIDANCE TRAINING

​

This training is the most effective real-life training available in the state for your dog. The end result assures you when you see your dog make an independent life-saving decision when they are with you and when they are alone. Real Snakes are used for the training.

There are 2 options  for this training. 

Option #1 : A Designated location - you come to the trainer.

Option #2 : 1-on-1 on your  property - the trainer comes to you. A travel fee may apply.

Designation location  ( you come to the trainer ) - are often in environments where snakes reside eg bush areas, bush tracks, parks or reserves. This training takes about an hour with breaks for your dog.

Price starts at $220 for 1 session per dog.

1-on-1 on your property - is the most effective, realistic and reliable training available.

It is the most common area where dogs are bitten by snakes. Home is where dogs are most often relaxed, have no distractions and often get bored when home alone. 

It is recommended 2 sessions over 2 weeks. 

Price starts at $440 for 1 session per dog.

The initial 1-on-1 on your property first session is snake awareness is introduced around the high risk areas around the property finishing with avoidance training. Dog owners are part of the training to help guide their dog to gain a positive outcome and to their safe place.

The second session re-establishes the previous training and confirms the training has been cognitively established independently and confidently aware when a snake is present by scent, visual, movement and confidently knows exactly what to do, where to go to avoid snakes safely. The dog owner is not present or helping in anyway. The training re-enacts real life scenarios on the property from start to end.

The owner is observing the training inside the house or distance and taking note of the body language and behaviour of their dog when a snake is present. By being aware of their dogs body language and behaviour will alert owners, family, visitors a snake is present. Owners can then investigate the area and call a local snake relocators. 

The trainer - Kel will explain to property owners about snake behaviour, what to do, the myth and facts about snakes and first aid. A free property assessment is included to help not attract snakes to the property.

Kel is a licensed snake owner, professional snake relocator and snake avoidance trainer authorised by the Department of Parks and Wildlife WA.
